Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks Unveil Bold New Uniforms for Upcoming NHL Season
The Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks have rolled out new uniforms, showcasing a blend of heritage and modernity that seeks to encapsulate each team's identity as they prepare for the 2024 NHL season.
Los Angeles Kings: A Nod to the Past with an Eye on the Future
The Los Angeles Kings have introduced their latest uniforms, draped in a classic color trio of black, silver, and white. This new look is designed to strike a chord of nostalgia among longtime fans while also defining a bold, contemporary identity for the team.
The centerpiece of the Kings' new uniforms is a revamped logo that combines elements from their 1990s designs, integrating the iconic crown symbol from the team's inception in 1967. The updated logo illustrates the Kings’ rich history and the evolution of their brand. The Kings debuted a promotional video for the uniforms, enlisting famed rapper Snoop Dogg and the South Park character Eric Cartman to amplify the release, adding a touch of entertainment and cultural resonance.
New features in the uniforms include distinctive white patches on the home jerseys and black patches on the away jerseys, adding an element of contrast and uniqueness. To complement the aggressive styling, the Kings have also introduced matte black helmets, which will make their debut at the 2024 NHL Draft in Las Vegas—a fitting stage for showcasing the newly-minted look.
Luc Robitaille, President of the Kings, expressed pride in the project, stating, “This evolution is rooted in our 57-year history and embraces the elements of our eras. It also involved interface and feedback with players both past and present, and it sets the stage for extensions and new iterations in the future.”
Anaheim Ducks: Channeling Orange County’s Spirit
Just down the road, the Anaheim Ducks have also revealed their new uniforms, featuring a revitalized logo that will be prominently displayed on both home and away jerseys. The refreshed logo holds a place of importance on the shoulder patches, serving as a secondary logo and celebrating both the past and the present of the team’s branding.
The Ducks’ new jerseys sport a fresh typeface and number palette, drawing inspiration from Orange County’s distinctive Art Deco style. This creative approach reinforces the team’s connection to its local community, resonating with the artistic and cultural essence of the region. The color scheme includes shades of orange, black, gold, and white, painting a vibrant picture of what it means to be a Duck.
“As our organization enters a new chapter of Anaheim Ducks hockey, we are proud to reveal our new, refreshed logo and uniform kit that identifies with the Orange County community. The Ducks are a symbol of Orange County, and our pivot to orange with an updated, iconic logo encompasses our past, present, and future,” remarked owners Susan and Henry Samueli.
In a nod to their star athletes and the broader sports community, the Ducks have shared their new uniforms with notable figures including baseball great Mike Trout and Paul Skenes, enhancing the jerseys' visibility and appeal not just within the NHL, but across the world of sports.
Both the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks’ uniform unveilings signify more than just new apparel; they represent a careful curation of artistry, tradition, and progress. As these teams skate into the future donning their new threads, their fans, players, and communities stand united in pride and anticipation.
